+ What's different about Aslipup?

At AsliPup we put your dog's health first. This means we only use human-grade cuts of meat and fish to produce delicious, single-ingredient, raw treats. No additives, preservatives or cheap fillers. And no time wasted trying to decipher a long list of complicated ingredients! When you pick up a pack of AsliPup you know exactly what you're feeding your dog.

We also use an innovative technology called in-home freeze-drying to produce our Bites range. This not only allows us to control the entire production process from beginning to end (our treats are entirely homemade) but also means your pup benefits from all those precious minerals and vitamins which are often degraded in cooked, commercial dog treats.

+ What's so special about freeze-drying and how does it work?

Freeze-drying is by far the most effective method of food preservation, retaining up to 98% of nutritional value!

Unlike cooking or dehydrating, which uses higher temperatures that can destroy more than half the food's nutritional value, freeze-drying is an extremely gentle drying method. The mineral and vitamin content of the food remains largely undamaged and the final product changes very little in size, colour and taste, it's just a whole lot lighter!

So how does it all work?

Freeze-drying, also called lyophilisation, is a three step process. First, the raw food is placed in the freeze-dryer where it is frozen to -40°C or colder. Once frozen, the freeze-dryer creates a powerful vacuum around the food and then, as the food is slightly warmed, the ice transitions directly into vapour and evaporates in a process called sublimation. At the end of the process, the food is still 100% raw but completely moisture free.

Remarkably, we can now complete this entire process in our own home which means we know exactly what is going into every single pack of AsliPup Bites.

+ Are your air-dried treats still raw?

Yes! Every treat in our Chewies range is gently air-dried at a low temperature to ensure essential vitamins and minerals are left intact. In fact, the air temperature we use is well below guidelines for raw and living foods so we're confident your pup will derive maximum nutritional benefit from our Chewies!

+ Why are your Chewies air-dried not freeze-dried?

Whilst freeze-drying remains the best method for preserving food it just doesn´t give that chewy texture we were looking for. That´s why we developed AsliPup Chewies. Still raw and super nutritious but with the added benefits of improved dental health and increased mental stimulation.

+ Why do you use human-grade meat?

If it's not good enough for you to eat, it's not good enough for your pup!

Human-grade means that the ingredients we use to make our treats can be eaten by you and me (though preferably not raw!). This does make our treats more expensive but it guarantees that your dog is eating the highest quality foods. Many other treats use flavour enhancers to make their low-quality ingredients more appetising to your dog. We only use 100% fresh, human-grade meat and fish. Your pup will taste the difference!

+ Why don't you add vegetables to your treats?

To put it simply, because your dog is a carnivore.

Most of the dog food on the market today contains vegetables along with lots of promising health claims. After all, if vegetables are good for you, shouldn't they be good for your pup? Well, that's where we're different.

We believe dogs were designed to eat raw meat, bones and organs. Your dog actually shares 99.8% of their mtDNA with wolves which means, just like wolves, they're unable to fully digest vegetables, grains, or other fillers. So why add them? Whilst veggies certainly won't harm your pup, we want your dog to enjoy all the nutritional benefits of eating 100% meat and fish treats.

+ What do you mean by 'species appropriate'?

We believe that for optimal health, dogs should eat the foods they were naturally designed to eat. In other words, they should eat a species appropriate diet.

AsliPup treats are designed to help you transform your dog's diet by bringing it closer to what canines eat in the wild. Our raw protein treats are a convenient and tasty way to supplement your pup's diet, helping him meet his nutritional needs.

+ Can dogs get sick from eating raw food?

Yes, it's possible, but chances are your dog won't get sick from eating raw meat. Healthy dogs are surprisingly well equipped to deal with bacteria like salmonella. (That's not the case for us humans so make sure to always wash your hands properly after handling our raw treats!)

By using only human-grade meat and fish in all of our products we're also reducing the risk of your pup getting sick from bacteria or parasites.

If your dog has a weakened immune system and you have concerns about feeding raw please check with your vet first and do get in touch with us as well.

+ What if my dog has allergies?

Our range of Bites and Chewies are single-ingredient meaning you can easily avoid any protein your dog may be allergic too. We don't add any vegetables, grains or additives to our products and we also don't combine multiple proteins in one treat making Aslipup perfect for sensitive dogs.

+ Should I feed your Bites wet or dry?

This is completely up to you and your pup! We would generally recommend feeding our Bites dry, especially if you're using them during a walk or training. When adding them to your dog's meal you can rehydrate them in warm water for a few minutes if you wish.

Please always take care when handling raw food (although dry, our treats are still raw) and make sure to wash your hands thoroughly.

+ How do I rehydrate the Bites?

Place the desired number of treats in a bowl and cover with warm water. Once the meat or fish has regained it's original appearance (2-3 minutes) it's ready to be served up to your dog!

+ Why aren't your treats uniform in shape and colour?

All of our treats are homemade and every step in the process is done by hand. We also want to honour the quality and freshness of our ingredients by removing as little as possible so your dog derives as much nutritional benefit as possible. We're proud to make real food, imperfections and all!

+ How should I store the treats?

Heat and high humidity can affect the treats so please make sure to seal the pack properly after it's been opened. Our treats should also be stored in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.

+ What if there's a problem with the treats?

We personally check our treats by hand before packaging them and each and every batch is also tested by our pack so we're confident you and your dog will love them. However, if there are any problems just get in touch and we will happily replace your pack for free, no questions asked.
